Call of Duty Advanced Warfare, Will It Save The Franchise?

Just as I was about to write an article about how Call of Duty has become irrelevant with it's not-so-succesful, latest installment, Call of Duty: Ghosts, I see a trailer for the recently announced CoD: Advanced Warfare.

So, based on the trailer alone, is this new installment going to do big things for the franchise? or will it just be another bust with the same repetitive combat? First and foremost, I want to believe that Kevin Spacey is staring in this video game as - what looks like to be - the villain of the game is a sign that Sledgehammer Games is finally looking to provide a robust and solid storyline to the game with some great voice acting. The usual CoD games barely have any decent stories in them, It's always the same "Bla Bla Bla someone has WMDs or someone is invading another dude bla bla", with the exception of Black Ops 2 - arguably the best story in the entire Call of Duty franchise.

Secondly, The action seen from the trailer gives us insight to what the game will be like. Mech suits, lightweight drones, pulse canons and the ability to jump inhuman distances (with the help of the mech suit), It's all too familiar... Crysis anyone? Of course, I'm just saying that because of the fancy suit that's spotted in the trailer. Advanced Warfare looks to be borrowing a couple of things here and there and blending them together and for once... It's looking quiet nice.

Lastly - and this isn't really a point, it's just a way of concluding the article - Call of Duty, no matter how overrated the franchise is will definitely have many people buying Advanced Warfare. Only difference is that this time, It looks to be well worth the price of admission. But then again, they've only released the trailer, There's a wealth of unknown things about the game, new features? How's the single player? How's it different from other CoDs aside from graphical improvements? and most importantly, how's the multiplayer? All these questions are yet to be answered. The trailer looks nice at least.
