Child of Light: The RPG Everyone SHOULD Know But Doesn't

Child of Light has been marked as "Ubisoft's Secret jRPG weapon", Reading that headline made me wonder, "Wow, It's going to take A LOT for Western games to live up to the jRPG style, does Child of Light really have what it takes?" I got curious. And after watching several gameplay videos and the trailer, I found myself saying "it might just be".

Looking at the trailer alone just shows how beautiful (and I'm hoping to be hour-consuming) Child of Light is going to be. This game by Ubisoft was a particularly low-key affair, One that I didn't even know about until now. But man, am I glad I stumbled upon this gem.

Child of Light has all the makings of a fantastic, artsy and narrative driven tale. It's got stunning hand-drawn color painted art work, interesting looking characters with a fantasy-focused epic for a story. Oh, did I mention it's a RPG platformer? Not too many of those around in this day and age.

The story of the game revolves around Aurora, who's mission is to bring back the Sun, Stars and Moon which are being held by the Queen of the Night. Of course she has her unlikely companions to help her like Igniculus the Firefly. Aurora, having tasked with facing her "darkest" fears is fittingly titled, the Child of Light. This game is just begging to be played through and through, It looks ripe with amazing environments, magical characters and full of deep-meaning and thought.

It's the discovery of gems like Child of Light, that make being a hardcore gamer (the kind that listens and reads the news pieces, reviews and opinion pieces) pay off in a way. I'm sure that many of the casual gamers wouldn't have heard of Child of Light and those who did, might not even consider playing this beautiful looking game. Child of Light will be coming to almost every console out there, ranging from PS4, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS3, PC and Wii  U, all on 1st of May, 2014. I predict that a Vita release will come out soon as well. You can definitely expect a review for Child of Light coming soon!

What do you think of Child of Light? Does it live up to jRPGs of the past? comment below!
