Gaming in the Good ol' Days

A couple of days ago I got an email from Man Crates, A company that designs gifts for dudes in the form of, literally, a big ass crate. Their retro gaming crate being one of their more popular ones, they asked me to write a post about my gaming nostalgia.

The Next Battlefield Game is About..... Cops (?)

I've never actually been a big fan of the Battlefield series. I did enjoy the Battlefield 3 Multiplayer though (thanks to that Origin Humble Bundle). Overall, I thought that BF3 compared to CoD was more fun in terms of their multiplayer. While CoD put a greater importance on competition and being the absolute best in the entire game, BF3 was more lenient and gave you points for many things be it reviving a team mate, suppression assists etc.

Child of Light: lighting it's way to PS VITA this July

It was just as I predicted and I'm sure many other predicted this as well. There's no way they're releasing a 2D platforming RPG like Child of Light and not include a VITA release. For some reason, I thought it would come a bit later than July, but hey, good for us am I right?

Call of Duty Advanced Warfare, Will It Save The Franchise?

Just as I was about to write an article about how Call of Duty has become irrelevant with it's not-so-succesful, latest installment, Call of Duty: Ghosts, I see a trailer for the recently announced CoD: Advanced Warfare.

Game of Thrones Creator's Assistant Working With Telltale Games

The Game of Thrones series is one of the most popular TV shows to date. This is evident in the fact that it's the most pirated series for years. And when telltale announced that it will tackle the Game of Thrones series and make an episodic adventure out of it, much like their famed Walking Dead and Wolf Among Us series, fans could only have been happier.

Suikoden 2 Being Released for PSN?

Perhaps one of the best and most critically accalimed - not to mention, old - RPGs, Suikoden 2 is rumored for a PSN release for the PS3.

Gamer Trust is on Flipboard!

I haven't been putting out many posts as of late, mainly because I'm busy playing NBA 2K14, but also because I've been adding many articles to Gamer Trust's very own Flipboard Magazine. That's right. Gamer Trust is on Flipboard.

For those of you who don't know, Flipboard is an app which lets you customize your very own magazine. Articles written from big names like Kotakut, IGN and Forbes magazines and much more can be found on the app. A recent update has also allowed users to create their own magazines where they can share various articles to anyone and everyone. Personally, It's a great way to find interesting news articles that I can blog about. The slick and easy-to-use UI helps out as well.

So if there are any Flipboard users out there, Go ahead and follow Gamer Trust magazine!. Go ahead an search " Gamer Trust " on the Flipboard app!

How Piracy Ruined PSP

Sony's previous handheld, the Playstation portable (PSP) was released as the first handheld capable of handing out the hardcore gamer experience on the go. It promised hundreds of games and even more hours of fun. Sadly, piracy stepped in and ruined the party.

The PS VITA Should Have More Fantasy RPGs

The PS VITA was released with a promise that it would deliver a hardcore gamer's experience on-the-go. Releasing lengthy RPGs like Ys: Memories of Celceta, Disgaea 3 (read the review here), Persona 4 etc. But frankly, there's just not enough of RPGs out there for the VITA.

How Mobile Gaming Can Promote Console Gaming

The mobile gaming industry is no doubt the segment of the gaming industry that influences all types of people, young and old, casual and hardcore. Sadly, the mobile gaming industry is also the segment industry that doesn't present itself in the best way, in my opinion.

Dota 2 Tournament Sells Out Arena in an Hour

If you didn't see Valve's documentary on the biggest Dota 2 tournament, Free to Play, It's been made pretty clear that e-sports is an actual thing now. It's a career choice for passionate gamers like the ones shown in the documentary. With the biggest prize pool of $1.6 million on the line, it showcased some of the absolute best Dota 2 players in the world.

Child of Light: The RPG Everyone SHOULD Know But Doesn't

Child of Light has been marked as "Ubisoft's Secret jRPG weapon", Reading that headline made me wonder, "Wow, It's going to take A LOT for Western games to live up to the jRPG style, does Child of Light really have what it takes?" I got curious. And after watching several gameplay videos and the trailer, I found myself saying "it might just be".

Why I Don't Post Many News Articles

So by now, many of you readers can tell the kind of format that's expected in this gaming blog of mine. It's the occasional reviews and other opinion articles and from time to time, a news article about something related to the gaming industry. This post doesn't really have much to do with gaming as it has much to do with how I run Gamer Trust.

I made this blog in order to voice my Opinions about certain aspects of a game or something that's happened in the gaming industry. I also made this blog as a way to improve my style of writing reviews and what not. And of course, I made this blog so that I can write game reviews for you readers (which has been a hobby of mine).

Many of you might wonder, if Gamer Trust is suppose to be a gaming blog that's suppose to be updated frequently, why not just put news articles as a steady source of content. Well I too have thought about this and the reason I don't just put out news articles everyday is because it won't represent what Gamer Trust is about. To me, anyone can post a news article about when a game releases or which person left what studio. And to be honest, I should probably do that if I'm to make a blog that's up to date with the happenings of the game industry. But that would be too easy. And like anything that comes easy. Someone would've done it already.

I do post (very few) some news articles about things that I'm truly interested in like the Last of Us movie, but I want the content on this blog to focus on the Opinions of gamers, top 5 lists or top 10 lists, articles that say "why (so-and-so) game is (bla bla)". Articles that I'd want to read and that's exactly what I'm trying to bring to you readers. You might see some more news articles, or maybe not. But one thing's for sure, I will be writing and posting about things that I'd be interested in as a gamer.

This was quiet the random post but I feel like I should bring it up just to let you guys know how Gamer Trust does things. If you think I should post more news-related articles or just keep it the same! Comment below.

Loadout Would Be Better 5v5

About recently, there was quite the major update for Edge of Reality's third person shooting game, Loadout.

We're Making the WRONG Video Game Movies

Now this would look like a good movie!
With the recent release of Need for Speed. That makes it the latest video-game movie to be made since the likes of Silent Hill and Resident Evil movies. Having only seen the meta-critic and rottentomatoes ratings for the past video game movies, Nothing tells me or other gamers/movie-goers that this video-game movie is going to be any different. The past video-game movies like Prince of Persia and Resident Evil have received abysmally low ratings and it's fair to assume that Need for Speed, even with a brilliant actor like Aaron Paul, should follow a similar path.

Movie-Licensed Games are Ruining Gaming

Everybody loves going out to cinemas and watching the latest comic-book superhero movie out there, maybe it's Thor or Iron man, but one thing's for sure. Movie licensed games are some of the most terrible, low value, full retail ($60 - $40) games out there.

Even Tony Stark doesn't know what's happening

Does Frame Rate Really Matter?

The fast-growing popularity of shooting games, with powerhouse titles like Call of Duty or Battlefield, certain standards are to be met by other shooters that come after it. FPS, or frames per second can be considered as one of the standards that are important to shooting fans. In fact, Framerate is probably an important part to enjoying a gaming experience, especially on the PC.

Gamers are constantly tweaking their settings, lowering unimportant graphical do-hickeys all in an attempt to get that oh so important 60 fps. To me, and I bet to some of you out there as well, the obsession (couldn't think of a better word) over high frame rate is somewhat unnecessary. I mean, I do enjoy a shooter, especially CoD at 60 fps because a high frame rate is required to play such a fast-paced game. But other games look good, even great and sometimes better in the movie-like 30 fps instead of 60 fps.

One of the games I feel look the absolute best on 30 fps is Tomb Raider. Arguably the best game of the year without the name "Last of Us" on it. Tomb Raider was made to give that cinematic, movie experience and bundle it into a game. Naturally, it would look good playing on 30 fps. Tomb Raider at 60 fps does not look terrible but it does, to an extent, look unrealistic. Perhaps it's because anything on 60 fps reminds me of fast paced shooters. And Tomb Raider is definitely not one of those games.

Basically, gamers shouldn't really put a great importance on frame rate. Unless your game is having seizures frame rate wise, you don't really have a huge problem. 60 or 30, doesn't matter as long as we can get either one. Personally, I'd rather play on 30 fps to give me that cinematic feel to the game. Unless of course, it's a shooter. I can make an exception for shooters.
