3 Ways Sony Can Sell The PS Vita

It's been quiet some time now since Sony's new handheld, the PS Vita came out now. About a year to be a little more accurate. And throughout the early days of the Vita, owners of the new handheld were disappointed with the small game library that just didn't live up to the expectations. So It's normal that nobody would want a PS Vita if the people who bought it themselves aren't happy with it.
But later on, Vita upped their game (pun intended) and released many new games - though some that are non-exclusive - for the handheld restoring faith to many Vita owners worldwide. Sure they're mostly ports of other indie hits like Stealth Inc. or Dustforce, but it's still something. The 2014 lineup for the Vita looks equally promising with triple A titles like Borderlands 2 and Final Fantasy X HD-Remaster being released later in the year.

With the rise in the amount of games in the Vita's game library, it's clear to me that Sony means business about the Vita and it's not going to be a half-hearted effort - on the game-development end - like the PSP games. But it's sad to see that many gamers are still just uninterested in the Vita. True, that Vita doesn't have THE BEST games but they still have plenty of fun games that's built for the on-the-go hardcore gamer experience. Sony should put equal effort on selling more Vitas and here are some ways how.

1. More (Exclusive) Games

Like I said before, There's been a surge in games for the Vita but unfortunately, most of the games are already available for other - more popular - platforms like the PC or PS4 and PS3. Uncharted: Golden Abyss was a good idea. Making the origin story of the famous, Nathan Drake, a Vita exclusive. However, that's probably as good as Vita exclusives get. The Vita had a gem in Sound Shapes which WAS a Vita exclusive but was then released for the PS3 as well.

The already-large game library is impressive and will surely make gamers think twice about not buying the Vita. But more exclusive games are needed in order to really draw in consumers. Another Spinoff for the Last of Us to be released as a Vita exclusive would undoubtedly do wonders for the system.

2. PS2 Games for Vita

Having seen the graphics capabilities of the Vita in awesome-looking games like Uncharted and Soul Sacrifice, I'm almost certain that the Vita is completely capable of running PS2 games. It already has a PS1 section in the playstation store, why not have  PS2 section? not just for the Vita, but for all the Sony consoles as well. The PS2 was probably the golden age of the RPG. There were so many great RPGs that were released for the PS2. Tales of Abyss, Final Fantasy X / X-2 / XII, Radiata Stories, Dark Cloud 2, Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2 etc. All these great RPGs would definitely sell in the Vita. The Vita, after all, is a system that's made for the hardcore RPG, on-the-go experience. Opening up the PS2 game library WILL HELP.

Just think if all the games you see in the picture above were available for the PS Vita. Playing San Andreas while you're in the bus, or playing Kingdom Hearts 2 while chilling in a cafe. The PS2 RPG game library is a perfect fit for Vita owners. As of now, the only PS2 games that are released for the Vita are Final Fantasy X / X2 - Remaster.

3. Bundle Vita with PS4

Bundling the Vita with the PS4 might make it seem like the Vita is a flop. And to be honest, the Vita was *Holds 2 fingers closely* THIS CLOSE, to being a flop for me. But bundling the Vita with a PS4 would be a smart move. It would sell more PS4s and more importantly, sell more Vitas. Just think, if the price of PS4 and Vita bundle would be $500. You're basically paying $100 for a $200 Vita. Factoring in other costs for the vita like it's memory card (say, $50) and 2 games to start with (at most, $80). Then you'd be paying about $630 for a next-gen console and fully-setup PS Vita with 2 games to play. This is all without mentioning the PS Plus subscription which can work for both the Vita and the PS4. Plus its cheap.

Another reason why this bundle would make sense is this. Think of it like this. One of the main selling points of both PS4 and Vita is Remote Play. So what use would a Remote Play be if you only had a PS4 or a Vita. Nothing. If the PS4 were to be bundled with the Vita, then this problem would be eliminated. Yes, it makes the Vita look like an extension for the PS4 when you look at things this way, but if my first tip was implemented. There would be just as many exclusive games for the Vita to make it its own stand-alone gaming system.

Those are my tips for Sony to sell more PS Vitas. I really feel that the Vita is what PSP wanted to be, only the PSP was limited with the technology of its time. But now that we've seen what PS Vita can do. There's no doubt that it can compete and maybe even win over the championed, Nintendo 3DS. Do you have any other tips? Comment below!
